I have grown with music. I have cherished every moment of it and now I live for it...

My mother initiated me into music. I remember my first public performance; she dressed me up in a yellow sari and pushed me to sing in front of over four hundred people during Puja festival. I sang "Chorono dhorite diyogo amare ..." the famous Tagore song, I was two and half years old.

There was no looking back. My vigorous training continued at home and from age of four I started performing on Doordarshan (National TV channel) programmes for children.

When I turned nine I was enrolled for formal training in Indian Classical Music at the prestigious ITC Sangeet Research Academy in Kolkata, where in later years I earned the coveted designation - "Scholar".

I learned music under the tutelage of Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty. The disciplined training in classical music and long hours of practice (Riyaz) gave me a strong foundation. Over the years I have grown on that foundation.

I have won numerous awards but three of them stand out in my mind. One was the best singer award at a competition organized by the Russian Consulate Kolkata. I value it because it was my first major award at the age of eight. Second is the achievement of first position in a competition for Khayal and Thumri, Dadra organized by West Bengal State Sangeet Academy. Third award I cherish is because it was prestigious national level competition organized by the "All India Radio". I received the best National Classical Singer award.

While I continue to perform classical, semi classical and contemporary music on stage, I also do playback for TV and Films. I have passion for Film Songs, Ghazals and Sufi. I sang the theme song of IPL tournament 2009. My filmography includes - playback for a Hollywood film "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel " - Music Director Thomas Newman, vocals for background score in Hindi film "Chandni Chowk to China", a Tamil film, title tracks for most of the TV serials and short films for Imagine TV and Sony Entertainment Television. I had a great priviledge to work with Mr Amitabh Bachchan in one of the numerous jingles I have done.

My performances continue to be aired regularly on various TV networks including National channel, Zee, Tara Muzic, ETV, Sony and Imagine TV. I was the anchor of the most popular TV reality show "Zee Bangla SaReGaMaPa - Tumi Na Ami".

I perform regularly in various concerts, conduct music workshops and lectures throughout the world, notable among which include performances in Saptak Festival 2011, Ahmedabad, Aarohi Music Festival 2011, Mumbai, World Habitat Center New Delhi, India International center, Kala Ghoda festival, Mumbai, Mallhar Utsav, World peace convention New York, India Fest USA, Ananda Utsav 2011, New Jersey and NABC 2011, Baltimore.

With all these years of experiences in the world of music I am still learning. Everyday, I immerse in hours of practice and discover the subtle nuances hidden deep inside every note. The ecstasy overwhelms me further into this lovely journey that started when I was only two and half.
